ECE Undergraduate Scholarships
The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is pleased
to offer the following undergraduate scholarships and also graduate scholarships through the
generosity of alumni, corporations and friends of the
Department. Qualifications, funding amounts and numbers of awards vary
by scholarship and are listed below. To apply, please submit a
completed
application
to Stacie Oliver or Beth Cochran in the ECE main
office, 102 Electrical Engineering Building, by the close of
business Friday, October 10, 2008.
Les and Dot Broussard Scholarship
- Award: One student will be awarded $500
- Qualifications: Student must be a full-time undergraduate in the
College of Engineering majoring in electrical or computer
engineering. Recipient may retain this scholarship for additional
year(s) (maximum of four years) provided funds are available and the
student continues to meet eligibility requirements.
Alden J. and Barbara S. Chauvin Scholarship
- Award: One student will be awarded $1,500
- Qualifications: Student must be a full-time undergraduate pursuing a
degree in electrical engineering with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for
college work completed and an interest in alternative energy
solutions. Financial need shall be a consideration. Student must have
been born in Louisiana or at least have one parent born in
Louisiana. Recipient may retain this scholarship for additional
year(s) provided funds are available and the student continues to meet
eligibility requirements.
Chevron-Texaco Scholarship
- Award: One student will be awarded $2,000
- Qualifications: Student must be a full-time
undergraduate pursuing a degree in electrical engineering with a GPA
of 3.0 or higher for college work completed. Preference shall be given
to an upperclassman. Students whose enrollment and leadership promote
diversity within the department should also be considered. Recipient
may retain this scholarship for additional year(s) provided funds are
available and the student continues to meet eligibility requirements.
William H. and Tonya B. Ditto Memorial to Michel B. Voorhies,
Marion B. Reed and Ambrose K. Ramsey Engineering Scholarship
- Award: Six students will be awarded $1,000
- Qualifications: Student must be a full-time undergraduate pursuing a
degree in electrical engineering with a GPA of 3.0 or higher for
college work completed. Student must be a citizen and resident of the
United States. Financial need shall be considered. Recipient may
retain this scholarship for additional year(s) (maximum of four years)
provided funds are available and the student continues to meet
eligibility requirements.
Robert G. Flory Scholarship
- Award: One student will be awarded $1,500
- Qualifications: Student must be a full-time sophomore, junior or
senior pursuing a degree in electrical engineering with a GPA of 3.0
or higher for college work completed. Student must be American born
and a resident of Louisiana from Acadia, Lafayette, or Vermillion
Parish. Recipient may retain this scholarship for additional year(s)
provided funds are available and the student continues to meet
eligibility requirements.
Clint Ourso and Jennifer Romine Scholarship
- Award: One student will be awarded $1,000
- Qualifications: Student must be a full-time undergraduate student
enrolled as junior or senior in the College of Engineering majoring in
electrical or computer engineering. The recipient must have an
overall grade point average of at least 3.4 and no higher than
3.7. This scholarship shall be the only scholarship the recipient
receives other than a TOPS scholarship. Recipient may retain this
scholarship for additional year(s) provided funds are available and
the student continues to meet eligibility requirements.
Shell Scholarship
- Award: Amount is determined by Shell.
- Qualifications: Student must be a US citizen, maintain a minimum GPA
of 3.2 and be enrolled full-time in one of the following disciplines:
geology, geophysics or physics; chemical, civil, electrical,
mechanical, geological, petroleum, or geophysical engineering.
